Job Title: Tax Senior
Location: Northbrook, IL

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a Tax Senior with 3–5 years of public accounting experience who is ready to grow in a collaborative, people-first environment. This role offers meaningful client exposure, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to work across a variety of tax engagements while building long-term career growth in a firm that genuinely values work/life balance and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare partnership, corporate, individual, and fiduciary tax returns across a range of complexity levels.
• Analyze financial documents, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, to ensure accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
• Assist with tax planning, projections, and client inquiries under the guidance of managers and partners.
• Collaborate with senior staff to resolve tax issues and support client deliverables.
• Review tax returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality
• Leverage AI tools and tax software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in preparation and research.

Qualifications:

3–5 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.
Proficiency in tax software such as CCH Axcess, UltraTax, or similar platforms.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
Solid communication skills and eagerness to grow client-facing capabilities.
Experience with Quickbooks and similar bookkeeping platforms.
Comfort leveraging AI tools to improve workflow and research efficiency preferred.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment.
● Proficiency in financial analysis and thorough knowledge of relevant tax regulations.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

● CPA license (or actively pursuing) preferred.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned public accounting professional who enjoys mentoring staff, building strong client relationships, and playing a meaningful role in a growing firm. Key Responsibilities:

• Review tax returns prepared by junior and senior staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality across all engagements - this is a primary function of the role.

• Prepare individual and business tax returns ranging from straightforward to complex, as a secondary function.

• Manage and mentor a team of junior and senior preparers, providing guidance and quality oversight.

• Support partners in client management, tax consulting, and firm operations.

• Engage directly and provide consulting to clients regarding tax planning, projections, and address tax-related concerns.

• Serve as a point of escalation for complex tax issues and client matters.

• Leverage AI tools and current tax technology to drive efficiency across the team.

Qualifications:

• CPA license required.

• 5-8 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.

• Strong review skills with the ability to manage staff and client relationships simultaneously.

• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

• Excellent communication and client instincts - someone who enjoys being a trusted advisor.

• Experience with tax software such as CCH Axcess, UltraTax, or similar platforms preferred.
